FEATURED SPEAKER:

Rev. Dr. Paul A. Haidostian, President of Haigazian University since 2002. His appointment followed a nine-year professorship at the Near East School of Theology in Beirut. He holds a BA degree in Psychology from Haigazian University, a Master of Divinity degree from the Near East School of Theology, a Master of Theology degree and a PhD in Pastoral Theology from the Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, NJ. In addition to his local and international leadership responsibilities in educational, ecclesial, and ecumenical organizations, Dr. Haidostian teaches, lectures and writes in Armenian, Arabic, and English on a wide variety of topics including Middle Eastern Christianity, Armenian identity, ecumenism, youth, education, social issues, peace, and pastoral theology.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Haigazian University, the lecture examines how Christian communities in the Middle East have historically and actively contributed to education, healthcare, and social cohesion in a region often marked by conflict and diversity. It highlights the unique role of Christian institutions, including the Armenian institutions and Haigazian University, in fostering tolerance and dialogue, providing quality education, and addressing social problems, thereby acting as bridges between different cultures, religions, and communities. Through a critical lens, the lecture explores both the challenges and opportunities faced by these communities in their mission to promote peace and understanding in today’s complex regional and global contexts. Reception to follow the lecture.
