By Alice Torcomian Dossett
This is the story of the author's parents Shooshan (LiLi) Baligian and Toros Torcomian and their immigration to the United States of America. They were both born in Gurin, Turkey in the late 1800s While the stories retold here are very personal, the events are a large part of the history in the Armenian diaspora of the times.
In their childhood they experienced life unbelievable to those born in the USA. They lived through genocide, Turkish occupation, starvation, and cruelty. They were fortunate to be among the very few who escaped.
