On the Other Side of Mount Ararat is the story of life and struggle of an Armenian family from 1913-1915 in the city of Van in Ottoman Turkey. The story is told in the form of a diary of a 13-year-old girl and is based on the life of the authors' grandmother and great-grandmother.
