by George Mouradian

Détente: Will the World Ever Have Peace? is an envisaged novel about a young Armenian-American, Vahan Vartanian, who sees what is going on in the world. He is disappointed in what he observes and through a a number of extenuating circumstances, eventually can do something about the conditions that are upsetting. Vahan travels through the long trail of college, becoming a U.S. Secretary of State employee, teaching at an university while working on his PhD in international law, working at a prominent international law firm, then returning to the state department as the U.S. Ambassador to Israel. Eventually, he becomes the U.S. Secretary of State, and through tragic and mitigating circumstances, he becomes President of the United States. The book is nonfiction beginning from the horrors of Benghazi in September 2011 to the inauguration of President Donald Trump. The text then ventures into the world of what could possibly happen afterword. Vahan, our fictional character, narrates and comments on what is occurring in the factual scene, then as president, what he does in the fictional world.
