Bejoian's ten plays have appeared in Boston, Philadelphia, Providence, New York, Fort Lauderdale, London, Edinburgh, and Yerevan. She is best known for her Armenian plays, Dance Mama, Dance; Eagles Without Wings ... Horses without Legs, and her piece on Virginia Woolf entitled A Play of One's Own.

Commissioned by the artistic director, George Houston Bass, Barbara Bejoian became the first Caucasian woman to write and produce three Armenian-American plays for Brown University's Rites and Reason Company. The third production Dance Mama, Dance, in 1989 was under a Rockefeller Grant. A 1995 Fulbright Scholar, a 1994 Critics Choice Award Winner at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Bejoian had also been awarded ten National Endowment for the Arts Artist-in-Residencies for playwriting, the Rhode Island Feminist Theater Premier Award, and the Massachusetts Artist Foundation Finalist Award.
