March 2: NAASR holds first public meeting and announces its intention to raise $300,000 from the Armenian community for an endowed chair in Armenian Studies at Harvard University. June 11-12: NAASR holds its First Assembly of Members in Cambridge, formally adopts a Constitution, clarifies its objectives, and elects a fifteen-member Board of Directors.
