In The Neighborhood Effect: The Imperial Roots of Regional Fracture in Eurasia (Stanford Univ. Press, 2022), Anna Ohanyan argues for the salience of the neighborhood effect: the complex regional connectivity among ethnic-religious communities that can form resilient regions.
