Prior Years — #NAASR

Gathering an international group of scholars, Armeno-Indica explores the Indo-Armenian saga in South Asia from the seventeenth to the twenty-first centuries. Themes to be explored include the connected economic, literary, legal, and political histories of Armenians and Indians in South Asia and beyond across the waters of the Indian Ocean. The keynote for the conference will be delivered by Professor Sanjay Subrahmanyam.

Join us in celebrating Director of Academic Affairs Marc A. Mamigonian's 25 years at NAASR. Mamigonian will engage in a dynamic conversation with Khatchig Mouradian on a quarter century of developments at NAASR and in Armenian Studies generally, and a multitude of other topics, followed by an open discussion with the audience.

Dr. Carla Garapedian, who wrote the preface to this new edition of Remembrances: The Assassination of Talaat Pasha, will provide a general introduction and Bedo Demirdjian, translator of the memoir, will talk about the challenges of working with this manuscript.

Dr. Edouard Abrahamyan will present key findings from the Green Paper on Armed Forces Reform that was prepared by the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor Office and released in 2022.

During this 2-day program, participants will have the opportunity to learn new negotiation and leadership skills, engage with experts in conflict resolution, and expand their network.

This talk by Nora Lessersohn will introduce the life and work of Christopher Oscanyan (1818-1895), one of the first known Armenian-Americans, and his efforts to connect the U.S. with the Ottoman Empire—especially its Armenian Christian population.

This Colloquium is an annual international conference for graduate students in the Humanities/Social Sciences to present research pertaining to all aspects of Armenian studies, including but not limited to language, literature, history, gender studies, sociology, anthropology, economics, and art history.
