Prior Years — #Armenia

This presentation will introduce the practice of heritage forensics in relation to the ongoing research program of Caucasus Heritage Watch (CHW). Founded in 2020 in the wake of the Second Nagorno-Karabakh War, CHW uses the techniques of cultural aerospace to document, detect, and deter attacks on the fragile remains of the human past. This talk is organized around three forensic dossiers on medieval and early modern heritage caught in the crosshairs of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

In his newest publication of selected essays and interviews, A Precarious Armenia (Gomidas Institute, 2023), Gerard J. Libaridian explores a number of fundamental issues regarding Armenia's foreign and security policies and scrutinizes the political culture as the framework within which positions have been defined and solutions have been sought.

Dr. Edouard Abrahamyan will present key findings from the Green Paper on Armed Forces Reform that was prepared by the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor Office and released in 2022.

POSTPONED ~ Hrair Hawk Khatcherian has spent almost three decades presenting exhibitions, conferences, and photographic lectures around the globe. His photographs have appeared in numerous magazines, newspapers, books and publications. Khatcherian has published more than a dozen photography books.

As the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict continues, three diverse experts come together to discuss the crisis today, the history of yesterday, and the actions of tomorrow.

Professor Aprahamian has over 200 invited talks at various National and International Conferences and over 200 publications in refereed journals, book chapters, etc. She is active in numerous international and national advisory committees in nuclear science. Among the many honors recognizing her achievements, she is an Elected Fellow of Science Academy of Republic of Armenia, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the American Physical Society.
