This is the only book in English dealing with the history of the territory of the present (Soviet) Armenian state- from pre-Russian times into the late 1960's and including cultural as well as economic developments, from the ecclesiastic to the industrial, from the agricultural to the literary spheres. Although the main emphasis is on the late Czarist, revolutionary and Soviet period, the book begins with a survey of the entire span of Armenian history.
