By Sarkis Narzakian, Translated by Garine Narzakian
Srkis Narzakian's narrative a is a somber commentary on the activities of Armenian revolutionaries who tenaciously carried on the struggle for Armenian political rights in teh Ottoman Empire. Born in the mixed Armenian-Turkish village of Garmari in the region of Chemishgazag, to the north of Kharpert, Sarkis Narzakian came from humble origins and became an Armenian revolutionary during the reign of Abdul Hamid II. After imprisonment, he fled to the United States where he continued his political activities and got involved in the American labor movement, as well. Narzakian returned to the Ottoman Empire after the revolution of 1908 and went back to the United States before the outbreak of World War I.
