By Claude E. Cox
Origen (d.253-4) compared the LXX and traditional Hebrew texts in the immense, six-columned work Hexapla. Although the Hexapla was apparently destroyed during the 7th century, versions of Origen's work were nevertheless preserved in various Armenian texts. In the present volume, Claude Cox presents Hexaplaric source material as it is found in more than 100 Armenian MSS. The Armenian MSS contain notations for 1461 passages, 161 of which are unique to the Armenian Texts.
Cox's painstaking research will be of immediate interest to OT textual critics, students of Origen, and scholars of the Armenian biblical tradition.
