The French Influence on the Western Armenian Renaissance came into being as a doctoral dissertation at Brown University. Our aim was neither to extol the virtues of French literature nor to belittle the achievement of the Armenians. Admired by the whole civilized world, French literature does not need the eulogy of our modest pen. On the other hand, to feel the impact of foreign ideas is not a sign of interiority.
