A Graded West Armenian Reader: Selections from Armenian Literature
Edited by James Etmekjian
This Reader has been prepared according to tested and widely accepted methods in foreign language teaching in this country. A representative group of stories from the works of outstanding Armenian authors of the late 19th and early 20th centuries has been assembled from both the pedagogical and literary viewpoints. Each story is preceded by an introduction in English on each author. Each page of text has a visible vocabulary. There is a separate section of exercises based on each story and, at the end, a complete Armenian-English vocabulary of terms used in this text. In the preface useful aids in mastering the Armenian language are reviewed. Over 200 pages in length, the book also has photographic illustrations, a composite historical map of Armenia, and specially drawn sketches of each author as well. This book is a joint publication of the American Council of Learned Societies and the National Association for Armenian Studies and Research (NAASR).
