Join us for a special webinar, organized by the Armenian Genocide Research Program of the Promise Armenian Institute at UCLA, presenting groundbreaking research on the fate of Armenian properties confiscated during and after the Armenian Genocide of 1915.

The Armenian Genocide Looted Art Research Project (AGLARP) leadership team is planning the project’s second phase and will shed light on recent and upcoming efforts during this conference at UCLA on Saturday, February 10, 2024. This exciting and critical event will consist of a documentary screening about the March conference, discussions of the AGLARP’s summer research findings, and a roundtable on how this conversation applies to past and current events, as well as what lies next for the AGLARP.

The world premiere of the recently discovered lost film, “Jackie in the Near East,” a 1924 short film produced by the Near East Relief (NER) and featuring child-star Jackie Coogan, who helped raise millions of dollars in America for orphans of the Armenian Genocide.

You are invited to a special in-person event to mark a major new addition to the USC Libraries Holocaust & Genocide Studies Collection. The Vahakn Dadrian Armenian Genocide Book Collection is made possible by the Ararat Eskijian Museum and Research Center.

Looking at the situation with respect to attacks against ethnic Armenians as a result of the Lachin Corridor blockade, and recent active military attacks in Nagorno-Karabakh/Artsakh and in Armenia generally, this panel will explore the following key questions drawing from action taken thus far by States and international actors (or not):

As he prepares to depart from his position as Kaloosdian-Mugar Chair in Armeni-an Genocide Studies at Clark University to become the inaugural director of the Armenian Genocide Research Program within the Promise Armenian Institute at UCLA, Akçam will engage in a conversation with NAASR Academic Director Marc A. Mamigonian that will touch on such topics as the evolution of Akçam’s work, the history and development of Armenian Genocide Studies, the challenges facing the field, and his plans for the future in his new role.
