1915’te Sürgün ve İmhaya gönderilen Ermenilerin geride bıraktıkları mallara, eğer sivil halk tarafından yağmalamadı ise, devlet tarafından el konuldu ve değişik amaçlar doğrultusunda kullanıldı. Bu Emvali Metrukeler 1920’li ve 1930’lu yıllarda birçok şehir ve kasabada, açık artırma ile yeniden satışa çıkartıldılar. Bu satış ilanlarına dönemin gazetelerinde yer verildi. Araştırmacı Sait Çetinoğlu, yıllar süren titiz bir çalışma süresine bu paha biçilmez ilanları bir araya topladı. Kaliforniya Üniversitesi Ermeni Soykırımı Araştırma Programı (AGRP) bu malzemelerin tümünü dijital ortama aktardı ve ilanları Türkçe ve İngilizce erişilebilir ve aranabilir hale getirdi. Sait Çetinoğlu ve Taner Akçam, bu Çevrim İçi (Webinar) söyleşide hazırladıkları arşivi tanıtacaklar. Mustafa Kemal önderliğinde, Cumhuriyet yönetiminin Ermeni mallarının yağmalanması konusunda attığı adımları gösterecek ve tartışacaklar. Soykırım sadece fiziksel şiddet değil, örgütlenmiş bir hukuk sistemidir. Ermeni zenginliğinin yağması üzerine örülmüş bu hukuk sistemi bugün bile hala yürürlüktedir. Demokratik bir toplum için bu hukuk sisteminin anlaşılması merkezi bir öneme sahiptir.
Translation:
The properties left behind by the Armenians who were deported and exterminated in 1915, if not looted by civilians, were confiscated by the state and used for various purposes. These abandoned properties were put up for auction again in many cities and towns during the 1920s and 1930s. These sales advertisements were published in newspapers of the time. Researcher Sait Çetinoğlu compiled these priceless advertisements over several years of meticulous work. The Armenian Genocide Research Program (AGRP) at the University of California has digitized all of these materials and made them accessible and searchable in Turkish and English. Sait Çetinoğlu and Taner Akçam will present the archive they prepared in this online (webinar) interview. They will demonstrate and discuss the steps taken by the Republican administration, under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal, to address the looting of Armenian property. Genocide is not merely physical violence; it is an organized legal system. This legal system, built upon the plunder of Armenian wealth, remains in effect even today. Understanding this legal system is central to a democratic society.
